Synopsis
What happens to a current-day, feminist and egalitarian relationship, when one partner’s career takes off, while the other’s isn’t? Can love as a communist island, essentially unselfish and irrational, survive in a free-market environment that assumes a homo economicus who knows nothing but self-interest and economic rationality? FITNESS AND DESPAIR is a genre-crossing, politically engaged investigation of contemporary conceptions of intimacy, centered around Berlin-based thirtysomethings Wanda and Faraz.
