Kristina Paustian
Kristina Paustian was born in Omsk and resides in Berlin since her adolescence. Kristina began her career in film as a cinematographer and editor. She studied in the class of the director Thomas Arslan at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). In 2015 Kristina released her first feature-length documentary, SWIMMERS (2015), which premiered at Visions du Réel and was awarded with the ARTE Documentary Prize. In 2017 Kristina was part of the Berlinale Talents program. Her film and video art works were presented at Les Rencontres Internationales, Arsenal Berlin, Artdocfest, Torino International Film Festival, European Media Art Festival in Osnabruck, Odessa Biennale, Tashkent Biennale and others.
Kristina’s second documentary feature film TIMEKEEPER was invited in 2022 as a work-in-progress project to Agora Docs in Thessaloniki and later to Sofia Meetings.
Currently Kristina put on hold the development of her first fiction feature VELIMIR’S PROPHECY in order to pursue the production of the new documentary under the working title TWENTY-FOURTH dedicated to the war in Ukraine.
